Christian Marxt

Biography

Christian Marxt has worked as a Senior Lecturer at the ETH Zurich in the Department of Management, Technology and Economics for almost 20 years. There he is associated with the Chair for Technology and Innovation Management by Prof. Stefano Brusoni and teaches in three other departments, especially as expert for project management. He is involved in further training at ETH in the MAS MTEC and in the CAS / MAS “Future of Mobility” at D-MAVT, actively designing the CAS “New Business Models” and the integration module. 

His research interests include topics at the interface between technology and entrepreneurship. Research in particular deals with questions of open innovation, strategic partnerships and networks, corporate entrepreneurship - especially business model innovation - as well as national and regional innovation systems.

His international network allowed several research and teaching stays abroad. In 2001, he worked at the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in the field of cooperative product development. In 2006, he conducted research as invited visiting professor in the areas of precision innovation and early prototyping at the Center for Design Research at Stanford University and in 2008, he worked at KTH Stockholm as professor in the area of product innovation engineering.

In the years 2008 to 2017, he acted as Full Professor at the Chair for Technology and Entrepreneurship at the University of Liechtenstein. For close to five years he headed the Institute for Entrepreneurship and as such was member of the university management. As academic director, he designed and implemented several programs in education and training. Today he teaches several courses in the MBA “Technology and Innovation” and supervises master theses.

In 2018, he resumed the position of managing director of Innomar GmbH in Zurich. The international consulting company focuses on strategy development and executive coaching for companies and academic institutions. In addition, he works as a board member in two media companies Switzerland, where he is responsible for the areas of technology and innovation. The two companies were able to make investments in new production facilities in the double-digit million range last year.
